Monroe Police investigating shooting at apartment complex on Halloween

The first officer to arrive found a person in the parking lot who had been shot.

MONROE, N.C. — One person was seriously hurt in a shooting in Monroe on Thursday night. The Monroe Police Department is now investigating

Police responded to the Icemorlee Street Apartments around 8:45 p.m. Thursday, after reports of a shooting. The first officer to arrive found a person in the parking lot who had been shot.

That officer treated 29-year-old Brandon Williams until EMS arrived. He was then taken to a Charlotte-area hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

Based on the preliminary investigation, police believe Williams and another person were fighting in the parking lot and both shot at one another. It's unclear if the other person suffered injuries during the incident. Monroe police said the suspect left the area before officers arrived. That person hasn't been identified by detectives.
