MOUNT HOLLY, N.C. — Two people have died after a shooting in Mount Holly Thursday night, Gaston County EMS (GEMS) confirmed.
Mount Holly Police confirmed it happened around 8 p.m. on Thursday. When officers arrived at the area of Piedmont Avenue and Dodge Street, they found two people in a vehicle, both of whom had been fatally shot.
Initially, the department withheld the names of the victims. Later in the day Friday, Mount Holly PD identified the two victims as Jayden Dae-Shun Munson and Jaylan Murray Jackson. Both were 19 years old and from Concord.
“We want to share our sincerest condolences with the families of the victims, and we stand ready to provide support during this difficult time,” said Chief Brian Reagan in a statement. “We are following up on every lead that we have on what appears to be an isolated incident between individuals who were familiar with each other. There is no immediate threat to the community. We are dedicating all available resources to bring those responsible for these crimes to justice. We are asking for anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Mount Holly Police Department.”
Police are still investigating this incident and investigators are asking the public to share any information they may have with Mount Holly Police at 704-827-4343.
