LANCASTER, S.C. — A 14-year-old Lancaster teen will not face charges after a deadly shooting killed one person in Lancaster, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.
The shooting happened Thursday evening on Hillcrest Avenue. The teen said a neighbor came onto their property without permission and ran towards him and his friends with a knife.
The teen tried to hide in his friend's truck, locking the door, but the neighbor continued to try to get into the vehicle. The 14-year-old then grabbed a pistol from the car, shooting the man.
When police arrived at the house, they found the 29-year-old neighbor, who was on the ground and determined to be dead by medics. The 14-year-old boy and family friend were waiting for the police to arrive and were both cooperative.
At this time, the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office says they are not filing charges against the 14-year-old. As of now, they say the shooting was justified.
