The shooter and and one of the victims were in a weekslong dispute, according to the Bladen Count sheriff.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A St. Pauls, North Carolina  man was charged with attempted murder after two employees were shot at a hog processing plant in Bladen County just after midnight Thursday, authorities said.

The Bladen County Sheriff’s Office identified 20-year-old Jaquante Hakeem Williams as the suspect in the shooting at Smithfield Foods, which is located at 15855 NC Highway 87 in Tar Heel.

Authorities said at a press conference later Thursday that Williams was a contractor with a sanitation company. The two victims, a man and a woman, were employees of the Smithfield Foods facility. They were shot in a stairwell in the business’s administrative building.
