Driver intentionally rams into CMPD's North Tryon office, police say

Nobody was hurt and the suspect was taken into custody.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A person is in custody after the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said its North Tryon division office was intentionally rammed into Friday night.

CMPD said it happened just after 7 p.m. at the office located on North Tryon Sreet near East Sugar Creek Road. The driver, who hasn't been identified as of publication, reportedly rammed into a security gate and got into a secured parking lot. After that, the driver's car then hit the office building itself.

No police officers were hurt and the suspect was arrested without incident.
