CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A shooting in northwest Charlotte left one person dead on Sunday, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
Police responded to Flagler Lane near Suman Road on Sunday around 11 a.m. in response to an assault call. A person was found with gunshot wounds at the scene. Medic pronounced the victim dead at the scene.
CMPD has ruled the victim's death as a homicide. No information was given on any suspects. The victim's name was eventually released as 40-year-old Howard Maurice Higgins.
The shooting remains under investigation by CMPD. More details will be provided when they are available.
