CMPD: Fatal southeast Charlotte shooting was justified

According to police, the incident happened near the 7500 block of Creekridge Road. Police said one person is dead.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person died and another was hurt in a shooting in southeast Charlotte Monday morning, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said. 

According to police, the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. near the 7500 block of Creekridge Road. 

According to CMPD, they responded to reports of a shooting, and when officers arrived on the scene they spoke with a witness and noticed evidence of a shooting. 

CMPD announced Aug. 5. 2021 that this case has now been classified as a justified homicide.

They did not find anyone injured at the scene. However, officers soon received word of two people who had gone to a nearby hospital with apparent gunshot wounds. One of those people, identified as Jonathan Robinson, 33, was pronounced dead at the hospital.
