CHESTER, S.C. — Police say one person has died in Chester, South Carolina after a shooting. Now, Chester Police are looking for the suspect they say shot and killed a man along Dawson Drive Wednesday evening.
The shooting happened around 6 p.m. Neighbors say they first heard the gunshots, then caught a glimpse of the shooter.
When police arrived at the scene, police found one person with gunshot wounds.
That person was pronounced deceased at the scene, police at the scene told NBC Charlotte.
The victim has been identified as Dwayne Allen Wilson Jr, age 21.
There is a person of interest related to the case that police are asking about, but no further information has been released.
“I saw the guy running as he was shooting the gun off,” neighbor Sylvia Pierce said.
She told NBC Charlotte she and her fiancé took cover inside their homes and in no time police were on scene.
Police told NBC Charlotte that there is a person of interest they are asking about, but they have not located that person.
This is still an ongoing and active investigation. No information about what may have led up to the shooting has been released.
