PAGELAND, S.C. — A man wanted for a shooting in Monroe was arrested across the state line in South Carolina on Wednesday.
A resident living in Pageland told WCNC Charlotte that law enforcement officers came to her door this morning holding a picture of Frederick Thomas. The resident described seeing law enforcement officers carrying large weapons and officers surrounding a nearby home. WCNC Charlotte has been able to confirm the U.S. Marshalls and the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) were among the law enforcement agencies involved in the search on Wednesday.
Last week, police in Monroe, located about 15 miles north across the state line in North Carolina, said they were searching for a man named Frederick Thomas. Thomas was accused of shooting another man in the ear along Cherryridge Road during the evening hours of Wednesday.
The injured man was expected to make a full recovery, police said at the time. Officials in Monroe had obtained a warrant charging Thomas with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He was also being charged with robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Thomas was in custody at the Union County, North Carolina detention center by Thursday, the Monroe Police Department confirmed to WCNC Charlotte.
