1 person killed in northeast Charlotte shooting, Medic confirms

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was killed in a shooting in northeast Charlotte on Tuesday morning, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said. 

The shooting happened around 10:30 a.m. at the Woodland apartments, which is just off West Arrowhead Drive near Dove Tree Lane and North Tryon Street. Multiple CMPD units, including a mobile crime scene lab, were at the complex with crime scene tape blocking the parking lot. 

Multiple black screens were seen in the parking lot of the complex. CMPD hasn't released many details but said the shooting is being investigated as a homicide. It's unclear if a suspect is in custody or if detectives are looking for anyone of interest. The victim has not been identified. 

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. Witnesses can call 704-432-TIPS to speak directly with homicide detectives. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous.
