CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man was shot and killed in southwest Charlotte early Friday morning, police said.
The shooting happened in the parking lot of the Embassy Suites on South Tryon Street around 3 a.m., according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. The victim, identified as 45-year-old Jamal Dade, was taken to the hospital by Medic, where he was pronounced dead.
CMPD identified 41-year-old Shemeka Nicole Dade as a suspect in the case. Dade was taken into custody at the scene and interviewed by detectives. Dade is charged with murder in connection with the shooting. She is being held in the Mecklenburg County Jail, according to CMPD.
Detectives said neither person involved in the shooting was staying at the hotel, and they don't believe the shooting was random. Officers aren't looking for any additional suspects at this time.
