CHARLOTTE, N.C. — CMPD arrest five teenage involved in an attempted armed robbery at 7- Eleven in northeast Charlotte Friday morning.
According to police, around 5:30 a.m. Friday they were called to the 8100 block of Old Concord Road, a 7-Eleven gas station. The store clerk stated a male and female attempted to rob the business at gunpoint, police said.
The store clerk said the suspects left on foot toward the residential neighborhood next to the store.
Officers were able to locate the suspects at a residence in the 1200 block of Stourbridge Lion Drive where they barricaded themselves inside.
The SWAT Team was called to the scene and residents of the neighboring homes were evacuated as a precaution, police said.
Police reported, after a short standoff, 19-year-old Zaire Witherspoon, 16-year-old Kiyara Stevens, 18-year-old Nathan Bellamy, 19-year-old Paris Lee, and 16-year old Dontavia McMorris were transported to police headquarters and charged with attempted armed robbery from business and conspiracy to commit robbery from business.
