Man wanted by police crashes into multiple vehicles, CMPD says

Police arrested the man who they said was wanted on multiple warrants.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man wanted by police crashed his car into several vehicles Thursday in Uptown Charlotte while running from a traffic stop, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police

Officers attempted to pull the suspect over, alleging that he was wanted on multiple warrants. The suspect sped away from officers, who did not engage in a pursuit, according to CMPD. Detectives claim the man then struck several vehicles before crashing near Eighth Street and North Brevard Street.

"Officers did not pursue the subject after they fled," CMPD says in a message posted on social media.

The crash and heavy police presence forced a brief lockdown at First Ward Creative Arts Academy. No one at the school was hurt during the incident. The lockdown was put in place as a precaution, officials said.

Officers caught up with the man a short time later and took him into custody.

On Friday, CMPD said it arrested Terrence Morgan, Jr., and charged him with felony flee to elude, felony hit and run causing injury, four counts of hit and run causing property damage, resist/delay/obstruct, driving without a license/registration and possession of stolen goods. CMPD said he was also served with a felony larceny of a motor vehicle out of Iredell County.
