BOONE, N.C. — Police in Boone said the department is responding to a shooting along King Street that occurred Saturday morning.
The department said it responded to a reported gunfire call around 10:04 a.m. along West King Street near First Baptist Church. Police said numerous calls they received indicated that a person was firing randomly from a white Toyota pick-up truck.
Police said they arrested Joseph James Navarette, 24, following a traffic stop on West King Street just past North Water Street. Police said there currently is no immediate threat to the downtown Boone area.
Two other vehicles were struck during the incident, according to Boone police. One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to the department.
The area along West King Street where the incident occurred has since been reopened, although the investigation is ongoing. Check back with WCNC Charlotte as this story develops.
