CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man is accused of robbing a Charlotte Target just days after being released from jail.
Unique Glover, 21, is behind bars again; this time charged for robbery with a dangerous weapon. NBC Charlotte found Glover has been arrested 18 times in recent years, according to jail records. His charges range from kidnapping to breaking and entering.
The latest crime happened at the Target on Metropolitan Avenue on Wednesday in the middle of the day.
NBC Charlotte talked to a woman who works in the shopping center and shops at Target. She said she’s concerned about her safety, especially considering the suspect’s arrest history.
"That’s scary for the employees of course,” said Jessica Jarrett, who works at Petco next to Target. “We all park in the parking deck and it’s dark at night, we leave at around 9:30 at night, so it can be a little scary.”
Glover was just released on bond for a previous armed robbery charge Tuesday of last week.
"Obviously, we need to look into why he’s continually being released,” Jarrett told NBC Charlotte.
According to court documents, Glover shoved a Target store clerk to steal electronics. Then police said when Glover was confronted by security, he implied he had a gun.
NBC Charlotte also reported on an armed robbery at the same Target store in November. In that case, 32-year-old Kevin Osborne was accused of pulling a knife on employees while trying to steal items.
The violent crimes in a busy shopping center are leaving employees with an unfortunate perception of the Queen City.
“It speaks to the increase in violence in Charlotte,” said Jarrett.
Glover was being held in the Mecklenburg County jail on a $52,000 bond.
