SALISBURY, N.C. -- A Salisbury police officer is accused of stealing firearms in March.
The suspect, identified as Timmy Blake Hunter, is a current police officer with the Salisbury Police Department, officials said.
During the course of the investigation several firearms were recovered from a March 10 larceny and Hunter was interviewed. The information and facts obtained in this interview and investigation were presented to the Rowan County grand jury on Monday, according to officials.
Based on the evidence presented in the case, the grand jury returned four bills of indictment charging Hunter with four counts of felony larceny of a firearm, according to the Rowan County Sheriff's Office.
On Thursday, Hunter surrendered himself to authorities upon notification of the outstanding orders for arrest.
He was processed and taken before a Rowan County Magistrate and was given a $10,000 unsecured bond and released.
