SALISBURY, N.C. — Three people were arrested following a string of four armed robberies across Salisbury on Saturday, the police department announced on Monday.
After a pursuit, the three people were taken into custody and charged in connection with the robberies of Speedway gas station convenience stories.
Sidney Wayne Williams was charged with multiple counts of armed robbery and strong-armed robbery. Investigators had used video recordings and other evidence to link Williams to the robbery of four Speedways around Salisbury:
- 828 W. Jake Alexander Blvd.
- 500 E. Innes St.
- 3410 S. Main St.
- S. Jake Alexander Blvd. and Old Concord Rd.
Williams was found inside a red Ford Explorer. The vehicle had been seen leaving the robberies and was located by law enforcement driving on Interstate 85.
Also arrested, are DIovany Philistin, who was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery and accessory after the fact, and Tina Miller, who was charged with drug-related offenses, according to police.
“Our patrol officers acted swiftly to secure evidence and alert neighboring jurisdictions, which directly led to the capture of these suspects," Salisbury Police Chief PJ Smith said in a released statement.
The Ford Explorer has been searched and impounded. While officials said they found cash inside the vehicle, they are still searching for the gun used in the robberies.
Police did not disclose how much money was recovered inside the vehicle but said they believed it had been stolen from the Speedway stores.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected to be filed by the Salisbury Police Department and Rowan County Sheriff's Office, according to police.
