COLUMBIA, S.C. — A South Carolina Department of Corrections officer was stabbed during an attack by inmates in Columbia Friday.
A spokesperson for the corrections department said the incident happened at Broad River Correctional, a Level 3 prison, which means it houses inmates serving time for more violent offenses.
The officer was taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries and was expected to be released later in the day Friday.
The incident is under investigation.
