HIDDENITE, N.C. — Two people were arrested after a deadly shooting in Hiddenite left one person dead early Monday morning, officials say.
The shooting happened just after 1:30 a.m. on Monday on Old Mountain Village Drive in Hiddenite, according to the Alexander County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies found 33-year-old Hiddenite resident Pang Vueyee at the scene. Vueyee had a single gunshot wound in the chest. Vueyee was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
After searching the property, Jason Fidler, 46, was arrested and charged with murder. Fidler is being held in Alexander County jail without bond.
Karla Freeland, 18, was also identified as a murder suspect. Deputies arrested her on Tuesday. Freeland is charged with murder and possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held without bond for the murder charge.
Fidler and Freeland are set to appear in court on Monday, April 1.
