CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was taken to the hospital after being shot near the Charlotte Transportation Center on Monday morning, officials said.
Multiple agencies responded to a reported shooting at the transportation center around 7:30 a.m. When crews arrived, they found one person suffering from a gunshot wound. However, officials determined the victim wasn't actually shot at the transportation center, instead they went there for help.
The victim was taken to the hospital with minor injuries, according to Medic. The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) issued the following statement:
"This morning, a shooting occurred off CATS property. The victim then came onto CATS property, where our security personnel promptly responded. CMPD and MEDIC were called, and MEDIC transported the individual for medical assistance."
CMPD hasn't released any information about the incident. It's unclear if a suspect has been identified or if police have made any arrests.
Anyone with information about this shooting or any other incident is asked to call Charlotte Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
