Police: 1 dead after shooting in Rowan County

The Landis Police Department said they were helping China Grove officers in the investigation.

CHINA GROVE, N.C. — Police in Rowan County are investigating a shooting that left one person dead in the China Grove community Saturday night.

The Town of Landis' Public Safety department confirmed they were assisting the China Grove Police Department with the investigation just after 8 p.m.

The China Grove Police Department later confirmed the shooting occurred at the intersection of Elm Street and Third Avenue. Officers responded to the incident just after 7 p.m. Saturday.

A victim was found lying in the street when officers arrived, police said.

Officers said the victim of the shooting was pronounced dead after paramedics attempted to resuscitate him. 

Detectives are looking for a black in color, BMW-X3 with the license tag JMP-7957 in relation to the incident, police confirmed.
