LANCASTER, S.C. -- South Carolina's State Law Enforcement Division has been called in to investigate an officer-involved shooting in Lancaster on Friday morning.

The shooting incident happened on Magnolia Lane in Lancaster just before 8 a.m.

Family members called for law enforcement to check on a man who they say had been acting uncharacteristically violent the past few days. When officers made contact with the man inside the home, Lancaster Police say the he, while wielding a knife, attacked one of the officers. The suspect was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where authorities say he's stable.

No other injuries were reported in connection with this incident.

As is standard procedure when an officer shoots a suspect, SLED has been called to the scene to investigate the incident.

All three officers on scene during the incident have been placed on paid administrative leave.
