Homicide investigation started in south Charlotte, police say

CMPD shared an alert about the investigation around 10 p.m.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a homicide in the south part of the city Saturday night.

Around 9 p.m., officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call along Old Providence Road, near Providence Road, where they found a victim with a gunshot wound.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where they died from their injuries, according to police.

No word on if there are any known suspects at this time.
