'South Park Susan' sentenced to probation after entering guilty pleas

Susan Westwood, the woman dubbed "South Park Susan" after a video of her harassing two black women went viral, was given 12 months probation by a judge Wednesday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Susan Westwood, the woman infamously dubbed "South Park Susan" after a video of her harassing two black women at a south Charlotte apartment complex went viral, pleaded guilty to multiple charges Wednesday.

According to the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office, Westwood pleaded guilty to two counts of simple assault and one count of misuse of 911. She was sentenced to 12 months probation. The judge also ruled that Westwood actively participate in meetings of the White People Caucus, a group created by Organizing Against Racism.

The video was shared more than 1 million times and quickly took a life of its own. It all started when police said Westwood called 911 claiming that people were trying to break into some apartments. CMPD determined it was false and charged Westwood with abusing 911.

Westwood's mother convinced her to surrender to police after she saw a report about the incident on national news.
