Richland County, SC (WLTX) - Richland County deputies say a student brought a loaded handgun to Columbia High School Monday.
Sonnet Williams, 17, is charged with possession of a weapon on school property.
Around 10:30 a.m., a school administrator took Williams to the office after smelling what appeared to be marijuana on him, according to investigators. When his bookbag was searched, officers say they found a loaded .357 handgun.
A school resource officer was called to the office and placed Williams under arrest.
Williams has since been booked at the Richland County Detention Center.
