Suspect in custody after being shot in SWAT situation, escaping hospital

BURKE COUNTY, N.C. — A Burke County man that was injured following an officer-involved shooting is now back in custody, after deputies say he walked out of the hospital where he was recovering. 

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office was waiting for Johnny Kaylor to be medically cleared to be released and incarcerated. According to deputies, Kaylor left the hospital on June 3.

June 10, Burke County officials confirmed that Kaylor is back in custody. 

His bond is set for $40,000.
