16-year-old found dead in possible homicide, sheriff says

The teen's body was found on the side of Whitehouse Drive in Lincolnton.

LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. — The death of a 16-year-old boy whose body was found on the side of the road is being investigated as a possible homicide, deputies said.

The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office said Monday that it's investigating a possible homicide after the teen's body was found on the side of Whitehouse Drive in Lincolnton. Whitehouse Drive is located just off the U.S. 321 Business Route near Horseshoe Lake Road, north of downtown Lincolnton.

WCNC Charlotte saw multiple Lincoln County Sheriff's Office investigators in the area but none of the officers would say if their operation was related to the teen's death. The agency declined an interview with WCNC Charlotte's crew.

Investigators haven't identified the victim by name and it's unclear if any suspects have been named in the case. No further information was released by detectives.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office at 704-732-9050 or Lincoln County Crime Stoppers at 704-736-8909.
