East Charlotte homicide was 'justified', police say

Charlotte police officials said no charges will be pressed weeks after a man was found dead in east Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — No charges will be pressed in an early October homicide investigation in an east Charlotte neighborhood, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department on Monday.

The homicide was determined to be "justified," police said.

Police announced they were investigating a deadly shooting on October 5.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said it happened sometime around 11:00 p.m. along Trousdale Drive, which is near Winterhaven Drive and Albemarle Road.

One person died and another person had injuries that were considered not life-threatening, according to CMPD and Medic.

The victim has been identified as 50-year-old Demetrius Leon Allen, CMPD said on Tuesday.

On Saturday night, details from police were scarce aside from the fact an investigation is ongoing. Police officials promised further updates once new information is available.
