Increased police presence near UNC Charlotte

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating an incident that occurred off-campus.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There may be an increased police presence near the University of North Carolina at Charlotte campus on Wednesday because of an incident off-campus, the school said in a Niner Alert to students and staff.

"The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is looking for a suspect in a car theft that occurred off campus," UNC Charlotte said in its alert. "You may see additional police presence near and on campus. There is no known threat to safety."

Anyone with information is asked to call the UNC Charlotte Police Department at 704-687-2200. Calls can also be made to CMPD Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.
