CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One person was hurt during a shooting in the University City area early Friday morning, Medic said.
It happened near the intersection of University City Boulevard and North Tryon Street, less than two miles from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Medic said one person only identified as a 41-year-old Black male was taken to an area hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.
The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department report says the shooting happened around 2:50 a.m., and the victim was shot multiple times by an unknown suspect. It's not clear if any suspects were taken into custody.
Just hours prior, around 7:20 p.m. Thursday, Medic confirmed it had responded to a shooting on Wheatside Drive, about three miles away from where the Friday morning shooting happened. Two people were hurt in that shooting, Medic said.
