CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is currently investigating a homicide in northeast Charlotte that happened early Saturday morning.
According to police, the incident happened in the 200 block of Matheson Avenue in the Metro Division.
Officers were dispatched to the location after they responded to an assault with a deadly weapon service call around 12:15 a.m. Saturday morning, said police.
CMPD said, when they arrived at the scene they found a male on the side of the road with an apparent gunshot. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Otis Lucas Jr., 42. His family has been notified of his death.
Police identified Marchell Bright-Walters, 47, as the suspect involved in the shooting. She was charged with voluntary manslaughter and is in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office.
