STATESVILLE, N.C. — Two men are accused of a violent robbery and assault in west Statesville on Nov. 14 that injured one person.
Iredell County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a robbery at 706 Winterfield Road, where the victim reported being attacked by two suspects. According to the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, one suspect choked the victim until he lost consciousness. When the victim regained consciousness, he found that his belongings were scattered and several items were missing. The suspects reportedly fled in a white Toyota Camry.
The victim had neck redness and lacerations on the arms and legs, according to the sheriff's office. Emergency Medical Services treated the victim, who is not being named at this time, at the scene.
The sheriff's office spoke with the victim and they were able to identify the suspects as Corey David Combs, 45, of Statesville, and Christopher Jordan Minier, 32, of Mooresville. On Tuesday, Combs was arrested while he was reportedly attempting to disguise himself wearing a wig and hat.
Combs now faces multiple charges, including felony assault by strangulation, two counts of felony kidnapping, felony common law robbery, felony conspiracy, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, and several misdemeanor offenses. His bond was set at $150,000.
Minier remains at large. The Iredell County Sheriff's Office is asking that anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact them at 704-878-3100.
