UNION COUNTY, N.C. — A wanted man was arrested in Union County after leading the Monroe Police Department and the Union County Sheriff's Office on a chase Thursday.
Monroe police tried to stop 30-year-old Saequan Eaddy for driving a Mercedes SUV without insurance and with a revoked license plate. Instead of stopping, Eaddy sped away, trying to flee police officers.
UCSO deputies arrived to help during the chase and used a tire deflation device that successfully punctured the SUV's right tires. But Eaddy didn't give up and continued to try to get away by hitting a patrol car. Officers were able to use a technique that safely stopped the chase.
Police arrested Eaddy at the intersection of Chaney Road and U.S. 601 in Unionville. No one was injured in the chase.
After his arrest, officers discovered that Eaddy was wanted and had several warrants out for his arrest. They also found quantities of controlled substances in the SUV and seized the SUV under NC's "Run and Your'e Done" law.
Eaddy is currently being held at the Union County Detention Center. In addition to his outstanding warrants, he has been charged with:
- Felony Flee to Elude.
- Felony Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Government Official.
- Felony PWISD Marijuana.
- Misdemeanor Injury to Real Property.
