CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Cordarrell Houston, 36, was shot and killed in west Charlotte early Tuesday morning, officials confirmed.

He died at the hospital.
On Saturday, CMPD announced two arrests were made in connection to the killing.
The suspects were identified as 19-year-old Maiseo Caldwell and 18-year-old Quavon Strother.
Strother and Maiseo face charges that include; first degree murder, first degree burglary, conspiracy to commit first degree burglary and conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The pair are in the custody of the Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office.
Glenda Myers has lived along Toddville Road for years and heard the shots ring out.
“[I} two gunshots at five o'clock this morning," Myers said. "And then shortly after that, I would say within 15 minutes, there were patrol cars rolling up everywhere.”
"We're talking about the loss of human life, so everything that we can do to bring justice to our victim -- to bring justice for the victim's family -- because this is not a number," Major Ryan Butler said. "We talk about how many [homicides] we've had this year, or how do you feel about this one -- you know, this is a person. This person meant a lot to their family."
Tuesday morning’s shooting adds to a growing number of homicides. CMPD telling us they are investigating at least 30 homicides this year alone.
“I don't care how many homicides we've had, there's not an okay number for us to ever talk about," Butler said.
The concern reaching community members like Bill Henning as well.
“That homicide thing and people dying like that, it's a shame," Henning said. "Yeah, I just hate it ... This is like something that is preventable. You would like to think that somebody killed somebody. That's pretty extreme.”
