Person shot, killed in west Charlotte

It happened around 3 p.m. along Little Rock Road near Tuckaseegee Road.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Officials say a person has died after a shooting unfolded Wednesday afternoon in west Charlotte.

The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to Little Rock Road near Tuckaseegee Road around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday in reference to a shooting. A man in his early 20s was found with a gunshot wound at the scene and was later pronounced dead. The victim's name was later identified as 21-year-old Natajah Demetrius Johnson.

As of publication, details about what led up to the shooting were not yet clear. No suspect information was provided by CMPD.

Police believe more witnesses were around when the shooting happened and are asking anyone with more information to reach out to CMPD.

Tuckaseegee Road was closed down in a nearby area due to police activity around the same time this shooting was reported. It's unclear if the two scenes are related.
