Woman killed, two children hurt in Monroe home invasion

It happened around 4:30 a.m. at 1603 Tower Ct. Police said two people forcibly entered the home and demanded money.

MONROE, N.C. — A home invasion turned deadly in Monroe on Friday morning, police said.

It happened around 4:30 a.m. at 1603 Tower Ct. Police said two people forcibly entered the home and demanded money. 

Lucero Sosa Capote was shot and killed during the break-in, police said. Her five children were in the home at the time; two were treated for minor injuries during the altercation, according to investigators.

The suspects were described as follows:

  • Black male and white male
  • Both were wearing gray jogging pants
  • Black male was wearing a black hoodie 
  • White male was wearing a green hoodie
  • Both were wearing something over their faces
