CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A man who was killed Thursday night in an accident in Steele Creek has been identified.
Barry Warrez Sims, 57, was driving a 1992 Ford Mustang when it went off the road, hit a curb, traveled down an embankment, overturned, and hit a utility pole, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.
Sims died on the scene. CMPD said speed was not a factor, and test results were pending to determine if the man was impaired.
The crash happened just before 10 p.m. Thursday on S. Tryon St. near Nevada Blvd. Drivers were asked to use Westinghouse Blvd. as an alternate route.
