Threat made against CMS school Wednesday deemed 'not credible,' district says

District officials said the school was evacuated as it investigated an "alleged bomb threat."

DAVIDSON, N.C. — A bomb threat that disrupted classes at Davidson K-8 School Wednesday morning was deemed not credible, district officials at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools said.

In a message sent to families, district officials said the school was evacuated as it investigated an "alleged bomb threat," and that students and staff would be let back into the school once an all-clear is given:

Out of an abundance of caution the school was evacuated as we investigated an alleged bomb threat. The safety and security of all our students and staff is of the utmost importance so the evacuation was put in place as a precautionary measure while the police worked.

After a thorough evaluation of the situation, Davidson PD and CMSPD deemed the threat not credible. Students and staff will be permitted back inside the school after the all clear is given and it is safe for students and staff to continue teaching and learning.

Making threats is a violation of the Code of Student conduct and students in violation will be disciplined accordingly.

The city of Davidson issued a statement saying Davidson Police was notified of the threat once it was received. Officers set up a command post, evacuated the school and searched the property thoroughly to ensure there was no threat to the community.
