CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. — A Catawba County school bus driver won't face charges following the investigation into an alleged attack on a student, district officials confirmed.
The alleged incident happened on Thursday, when the Catawba County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported assault by a bus driver assigned to Claremont Elementary School. Catawba County Schools said the driver was suspended with pay during the investigation. Detectives confirmed no charged will be brought against the driver.
"We are taking this matter very seriously and are fully cooperating with the law enforcement authorities as they conduct their investigation," Catawba County Schools said in a statement. "The safety of our students is our highest priority, and we are dedicated to ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for all our students and staff. We will continue to closely monitor this situation and provide updates as necessary."
The driver involved has not been identified at this time.
