CHESTER COUNTY, S.C. — Chester High School was placed under a secure hold on Wednesday after the school's front office received what the district described as a "threatening phone call."
As part of the secure hold, nobody was allowed to enter or exit the building.
Deputies from the Chester County Sheriff's Office patrolled the area until school let out Wednesday and a criminal investigation was started to identify the source of the threats.
Chester County Sheriff's Office, along with SLED, conducted an investigation into the incident, which led to the arrest of a 15-year-old female suspect. The suspect was taken into custody in Columbia, South Carolina Wednesday afternoon. She was transported to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
The suspect has been charged with the following crimes:
- Communicating threats
- Student threats
- Breach of peace
