York School District One says it's expanding access to early childhood education programs thanks to a new partnership in South Carolina.

The district announced Thursday it partnered with First Five South Carolina, which offers connections to resources for children through the age of 5 years old. Families can apply online for more than 40 public services through the partnership, from child care and early education to family support and nutrition help. York School District One can connect with families to offer them the resources it offers.

"We recognize the critical importance of early childhood development in shaping the future of our community," Kelly Coxe, the superintendent of the district said. "By partnering with First Five South Carolina, we are intensifying our efforts to provide the highest quality education and support to our youngest learners while offering families essential resources and access to programs."

A news release from the district said First Five SC makes the process of applying for and navigating public programs and services much simpler, allowing families to more easily get the assistance they need. York School District One is also not the only school district in the partnership; four other districts in the Palmetto State have signed on as well.
