KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — Kannapolis City Schools announced the passing of a long-time teacher Wednesday described as compassionate and fondly thought of within the district.
The district shared on Facebook that Rolonda Morgan died. She was a teacher at Shady Brook Elementary School, working in the exceptional children's department. The district said she spent 24 years as a public school teacher in North Carolina, with more than 20 years with Kannapolis City Schools.
"She was truly a compassionate professional and was well known, and well-thought-of, in the KCS community," the Facebook post said.
A communications coordinator for the district told WCNC Charlotte that counselors and support are available for students and staff as they process Morgan's passing. As of publication, memorial arrangements had not been shared just yet.
