UNCG investigating disturbing picture circulating online

We dug into a disturbing picture that has been circulating on social media from UNCG.

GREENSBORO, N.C. — WFMY News 2 dug into an alarming social media post from inside a UNC Greensboro building.

Several viewers reached out to us about the post, and it's got thousands of shares on social media.

The picture shows two water fountains with signs above them, segregating the water fountains by skin color.

We wanted to verify this post, so we directly reached out to the school. It says it is aware of the picture and is investigating.

"We learned that a student staged this photo and posted it on social media to encourage their friends to vote and not to create a threatening or hostile environment," a spokesperson said.

Several viewers reached out about the post as it got thousands of shares on social media.

The school also says what the post shows could be unsettling and cause emotional harm to some students. It encouraged anyone who needs support to contact a school counselor.

This is just an example of someone using social media for all the wrong reasons and yet, another reminder to think twice before posting.
