Kannapolis native on Team Reba moves on to knockout round after winning battle on 'The Voice' Monday

Sanders hit the stage in the coming Monday night to fight to keep his spot on Team Reba.

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. — The battle rounds are underway on this season of NBC's "The Voice," and a Kannapolis native on Team Reba made it through to the next round after his performance Monday night.

Josh Sanders originally made it onto Reba McEntire's team after performing a rendition of "Whiskey On You" by Nate Smith in the blind auditions.

Now in the battle rounds, each coach pairs two members of their team to go head-to-head singing the same song together. The winner goes on to the next round, and the artist that loses goes home -- unless they are stolen by another coach or saved by their original coach through a "playoff pass."

Sanders didn't perform in the first week of the battle rounds but hit the stage on Monday to fight to keep his spot on Team Reba with a rendition of Luke Combs' "When It Rains It Pours."

McEntire ultimately chose him as the winner of the battle round, saying his vocal runs and high notes were "perfect."

After winning his battle, Sanders now proceeds to the knockout round.
