LINCOLNTON, N.C. — A former Lincoln County principal appeared in court Monday morning for the first time since being accused of having illegal sexual relations with students.
Lincolnton High School principal Tony Worley resigned from his position last week after the school system suspended him following the allegations.
Worley didn't respond to NBC Charlotte's questions on the case as he walked into the courthouse.
Search warrants obtained by NBC Charlotte accused Worley of inappropriate contact with a current student last spring on Instagram, Snapchat and Grindr, the dating app.
The warrants said Worley also sent sexually explicit messages and nude photos of former male students.
Worley's attorney, David Teddy, waived a probable cause hearing, which means a grand jury is expected to hear this case later this month.
Worley remains out of jail on bond.
