BELMONT, N.C. — A Belmont teacher made Kristen Bell's #FeaturedTeacherFriday on Instagram.
The actress, who has more than 10 million followers, started a campaign to support teachers around the world. Nominations are emailed to featuredteacherfriday@gmail.com, and one is selected each week.
Bell shares a picture of the teacher along with some information from the submission. She then purchases items from the teacher's Amazon Wish List and puts the link in her bio.
On May 17, Kristin Riggs was selected. She teaches kindergarten at Page Primary Elementary School. She told NBC Charlotte she was shocked to hear the news and was so thankful to Bell for helping out teachers.
"I've received over a couple hundred items so far, and they are still trickling in every day," Riggs said. "I even got a gift from the UK and Zimbabwe!"
