At least one E. coli case in NC linked to McDonald's outbreak, CDC says

The CDC said at least one person living in North Carolina had been sicken after eating at the restaurant.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An E. coli outbreak linked to slivered onions on McDonald's Quarter Pounders cheeseburgers has reached one person living in North Carolina. According to the Centers for Disease Control, at least one case has been detected in the state.

A spokesperson for McDonald's said the CDC tied the reported case to the patient's home state and not where the resident ate. The state in which the patient ate was not disclosed.

The CDC began investigating the outbreak in October, after several people became sick after eating the burgers from the fast food chain. As of Wednesday, one person has died and 34 people have been hospitalized.
