The rise in flu deaths comes as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says flu vaccine uptake is the lowest in the last five years.

CVS Regional Director Gaurang Trivedi said CVS has vaccinated more than 500,000 patients with flu and COVID-19 vaccines in the greater Raleigh area this year.

"Demand has slightly decreased for the flu and COVID vaccines, but demand has remained steady for the RSV and pneumonia vaccines," said Trivedi.
