What's going around: Spring weather leads to growth in allergy flare-ups

Doctors in the area are seeing allergies, Asthma and sports injuries as the weather starts to warm up.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — In this week's What's Going Around, Flu is on the way out while allergies are on the way in. And not only that -- they've decided to make a grand entrance and stay awhile.

We start this week in Pineville at Novant Health Pineville Primary Care. Seasonal allergy flare-ups are first on the list of what's going around there.

The office says they're seeing an increase in cases of Asthma triggered by allergies as well.

Another thing this Pineville office is treating -- sports injuries.

Baseball, tennis, soccer, lacrosse, golf, you name it; they're seeing patients coming in after taking part.

Some advice from the experts?

Take it easy when you get back into a sport you haven't played in a while. Give yourself some extra time to warm up and cool down and make sure you listen to your body.

At Novant Health Pediatrics Plaza Midwood, they're still seeing some cases of the flu but seeing stomach illnesses as well.

The stomach bug is also a problem plaguing patients at Novant Health Huntersville Pediatrics & Internal Medicine.

That said, they're seeing fewer cases of the flu, some cases of pink eye, but overall, they're treating patients for allergies more than anything.

And that's what's going around.
