What's going around: Stomach bug on the rise; flu losing steam

At Novant Health Pediatrics Symphony Park, they're seeing an uptick in tummy troubles.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Cases of the stomach bug are on the rise this week, and while the flu virus continues to lose steam, it's not the end of the season just yet.

At Novant Health Pediatrics Symphony Park, they're seeing an uptick in tummy troubles.

Patients are being treated for a viral stomach bug. The office said the sickness doesn't last long but it's definitely contagious.

Cases of the flu are still circulating. In fact, the office said they're seeing a second peak of another strain of Influenza A, so make sure you're aware of that.

Allergies are also a concern. They're seeing cases of itchy, runny eyes and noses as we inch closer to the start of spring.

Allergies are also an issue at Novant Health Blakeney Family Physicians. They're seeing a lot of cases come in this week. Doctors are also treating patients for pink eye, sinus infections, and stomach viruses.

Stomach viruses are also spiking for both Novant Health GoHealth Urgent Care in Midtown and the one in Matthews. While both offices are still treating patients for the flu, it's slowing down some.

One important thing to keep in mind: If your child has a stomach bug, doctors said the biggest concern is dehydration. So make sure your kiddo is taking in enough fluids.
